How to Become A Christian

You are not here by accident. God loves you. He wants to have a personal relationship with You through Jesus, His Son. If you are wondering how to begin that relationship, here are some Bible verses to help you:

The Bible tells us that we all are sinners.

Romans 3:23:  "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

God says that every person who has ever lived is a sinner and that sin separates us from God.

The Bible also says that there is a price to pay for our sin.

Romans 6:23:  "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
       our Lord."

But, the good news is that someone else paid that price for us. God loves you and He sent His only Son Jesus to die for our sins.

Romans 5:8:  "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,
      Christ died for us."

Jesus paid the price for your sin and mine by giving His life on a cross at a placed called Calvary. God brought Jesus back from the dead and He provided a way for you to have a personal relationship with Him through Jesus. When we realize how deeply our sin grieves the heart of God and how desperately we need a Savior, we are ready to accept God's gift of salvation. The Bible tells us:

Romans 10:9-10:  "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that
God raised Him form the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in
righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."

To admit we are sinners means turning away from our sin and turning to follow Jesus - this is repentance. You cannot do anything to be saved, nor can you be good enough to be saved. Simply believe in Jesus Christ and call upon His name. Here is a suggested prayer:

Dear God,
I know that I am a sinner and have done things that don't please you.  But I believe you sent your
Son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sins. I believe He came, died and arose from the dead. Jesus, please
come into my life and take control. Forgive me for my sins and save me. I thank you for saving me.
Amen.
